About

I photographed my sailing friends on Lake Murten in Switzerland during my apprenticeship in a photo studio in Bern. Being a sailor myself I knew where to position myself to get the right angle.  My first assignment was Kiel Week 1971. That is where they held the Olympic Sailing event in 1972, my first of 12 Olympic Games.  In 1977,  I went to Newport, Rhode Island to cover my first of 14 America's Cup races (1977-2024). In 1987, TIME magazine sent me to Perth, Australia for five months to cover the America's Cup.  TIME magazine put my photograph of Dennis Conner, that year's America's Cup winner, on the cover! I continue to document regattas from Hong Kong to San Francisco to Newport, for Rolex, the New York Yacht Club or private yacht owners, 55 years after I began sailing and taking photographs on a little lake in Switzerland. Additionally I do portrait, architecture and Fine Art  photography. Check out www.DanielForster.com
