Camp Director – Summer Arts Camp About the Jamestown Arts Center The Jamestown Arts Center engages, enriches, and inspires through extraordinary arts and educational experiences. We strive to be a leading arts and cultural hub where creativity, ideas, and innovation flourish. Founded in 2009 and opened in 2011, the JAC is a multi-disciplinary arts organization that hosts art exhibits, theatre productions, live music and dance performances, film screenings, and talks. 

The JAC offers innovative art education experiences for people of all ages, with a vibrant yearround schedule of classes, workshops, camps, and community art-making programs for children, teens, adults, and families. Position Overview: The Camp Director for the Summer Arts Camp will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations and logistics of our summer arts programming. 

This role requires a combination of strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will manage everything from hiring and scheduling staff to coordinating camp activities and maintaining a safe and positive environment for children and families. 

The Camp Director will be a key communicator, liaising with parents, instructors, and staff to ensure the smooth execution of the camp, and will also assist with the management of our studios and facilities. 

Skills & Qualifications: 

• Strong leadership and organizational abilities. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate various aspects of camp operations. 

• Experience in a leadership role within an educational or childcare setting. 

• Knowledge of child safety protocols and behavior management strategies. 

• Familiarity with first aid and emergency response procedures. 

• Skilled in managing and supporting instructors with classroom assignments and issues. 

• Ability to step in to teach if needed due to an instructor's absence or illness 

• Prior experience working with children in an arts or creative environment is highly desirable. 

• Proficiency with Google Suite, spreadsheets, and other digital tools for coordination and communication. Physical Requirements: • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods. 

• Capability to manage some lifting and carrying, including art supplies and camp materials. 

Compensation: $26/hour; no benefits package.

Dates: Weekly camps run from June 30 to August 15, 2025 (seven weeks) This is a seasonal, full-time position (37.5/week), requiring a commitment to work all seven weeks of camp from June 30 to August 15, 2025. Camp Director is onsite, Monday through Friday, 8:15 am to 3:45 pm during camp. In addition, part-time work, both onsite and remote, will commence on May 27. 

The schedule will be variable, requiring 5 to 10 hours of work each week leading up to the start of camp. The Camp Director will report directly to the Executive Director. A background check is required.
